the Glimmerglass festival community access employee care program
About
In 2024, The Glimmerglass Festival unveiled an unprecedented partnership with Glimmerglass Medical & Wellness, LLC., a local provider of institutional health and wellness programming and concierge primary care services. This collaboration pioneers a unique, comprehensive health and wellness program tailored for opera and theater professionals. Led by Dr. Jeffrey Bailey, DNP/FNP-BC, a seasoned healthcare provider and performing arts professional, the program is a model for the opera and theater industry, addressing the healthcare disparities and lack of access to health insurance that industry professionals with atypical schedules and inconsistent employment often face.
The goals of the Wellness Program include:
Providing continuity of care to a group of people with limited access to consistent and affordable healthcare,
Meeting the needs of individuals where they are rather than imposing healthcare goals, and providing resources to empower people to make healthy choices,
Reducing absenteeism and productivity loss due to lack of access to appropriate medical care,
Reducing emergency room visits, thereby reducing stress on the local healthcare system, and
Supporting the local economy with partnerships with local practitioners and businesses.
Made possible through Beth & Gary Glynn's gracious sponsorship of The Glimmerglass Festival's Wellness Program in partnership with Glimmerglass Medical & Wellness PLLC.

About Dr. Jeffrey Bailey, DNP/FNP-BC
Dr. Bailey, DNP, FNP-BC
Dr. Bailey is the Owner and Founder of Glimmerglass Medical & Wellness and serves as the Health and Wellness Program Partner who provides acute primary care programming exclusively for the prestigious Glimmerglass Festival. In this role, Dr. Bailey delivers comprehensive seasonal primary-based healthcare designed for the realities of a world-class performing arts institution — providing timely clinical support, health education, and proactive wellness programming for the Festival’s administration, staff, artists, and crew.
As a Columbia University prepared Doctor of Nursing Practice and board-certified Independent Practice Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Bailey brings advanced clinical expertise and a whole-person approach grounded in evidence-based medicine, prevention, and performance-minded care. On-site and on-demand services are structured to meet the demands of rehearsal and production schedules, supporting acute needs, continuity of care throughout the season, and guidance for recovery and return to activity. Dr. Bailey also provides targeted healthcare education to promote sustainable health practices, with emphasis on illness prevention, hydration and nutrition support, sleep and recovery, stress management, and safe strategies for physically demanding work.
What uniquely distinguishes Dr. Bailey’s leadership is his previous career in the performing arts — as a professional stage, television, and film actor, and as a professional director and choreographer. This first-hand experience provides keen insight into the physical, vocal, and mental demands placed on performing artists and production professionals alike. He understands the pressures of performance, the pace of backstage life, the importance of confidentiality, and the need for accessible, responsive care that supports both wellbeing and excellence.
In addition to clinical services, Dr. Bailey leads a robust wellness program with his team members who provide for the Festival community, with classes in Yoga, Pilates, and Stretch & Tone along with a weekly "Wellness Report". These offerings are designed to enhance mobility, strength, posture, focus, and injury prevention. Through compassionate care, professional discretion, and a deep understanding of the culture and cadence of performing arts environments, Dr. Bailey and Glimmerglass Medical & Wellness are proud to help foster a healthier, more supported Festival community — so every individual can thrive throughout the season.
